Dribbling is one of the
most important skills in handball. It is used to advance the ball and maneuver
into scoring position.
1. Dribbling can also be
termed bouncing the ball
2. Players stand in an
astride position with knees slightly bent
3. Players then look forward
as the hand bounces the ball against the ground
4. Players can now bounce
between two hands to deceive the opponents
5. Players are allowed to
take three steps in between dribbles, and they can use both hands to catch the
ball.
6. A player in possession of
the ball cannot stand stationary for more than three seconds. He must pass,
shoot or dribble to maintain possession.
7. Handball players cannot
receive the ball and bounce it, then hold the ball, and bounce it again. This
is termed ‘double dribble’ and is against the rules.
