Marketing have had effect both positive and
negative on the development of soccer in Nigeria today. Marketing involves
buying and selling of athletes, sports facilities and equipments, tickets,
television rights and so on. In Nigeria, sports materials like jerseys, sports
shoes, football among others have been owned by millions of Nigerians because
of the popularity of the sport. Sales of
footballers are also results of sports marketing and it has been a major source
of revenue to football clubs especially when these footballers have been sold
foreign clubs.
Marketing would help to develop football in
the following ways;

funding of football
b.
Promote
football in the country
c.
Increases
income of players
d.
Provides
sponsorship to football teams in the country
