These schools have been sorted out as outstanding among other schools in Nigeria. Criteria for selection includes facilities and equipment availability for teaching and learning, teaching staffs quality, teachers willingness to teach, teachers mastery of subject, student-teacher ratio, sports performance, school environment, students performance in external examinations and competitions.
A school that will develop your child Cognitive (Intellectual), Affective (Attitudes) and Psycho-motor (Physical Skills) domain should be what you go for. And for some Religious aspects too.
However, I did not leave out the fact that the aim of education is to improve the child knowledge and cause a relatively permanent change in behaviour through experience. The aim of top schools should be to "To provide a conducive teaching, learning and development environment, where staff and students will interact and compete effectively with other counterparts, both nationally and internationally in terms of intellectual competence and the zeal to add value to our World". This are the criteria used to rank these schools.
To view the schools' website, click on the school name below:

ReplyDeleteCMS Grammar School, Bariga. Lagos State should be added. This is because it was the first established secondary school in Nigeria. and there has been lots of improvement since then.
ReplyDeleteCMS Grammar school bariga from where in this world, that would still be impossible practically forever
Deletecms grammar school has remained the father of all schools and is forever the best especially in the field of music

ReplyDeleteDansol and Daywaterman college didn't make the list, But Olashore did (8th Position).
DeletePlease Ademola I need home lesson for my child, can you help with that?
ReplyDeleteLove the criteria for selection. All Nigerian schools should strive towards this with little tuition fees.
ReplyDeleteI think Christ The Redeemer's College needs to be on the list. They have been excellent all through the last decade
ReplyDeleteWhere is Ojota senior secondary school. is it because its a federal public school?

ReplyDeleteNorwegian International School should be in top 5, it is the best in Port-Harcourt.
ReplyDeletePremier International School Abuja didnt appear why?
ReplyDeleteI've got 2tings to say why isn't Premier Academy Lugbe there Aisa and Aisl are one of the worst schools in academic terms (I am speaking from experience)
ReplyDeleteThis article shows that whoever put this together is an educator.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the criteria for placing schools? Is it just building?
ReplyDeleteJust some advice, ranking schools is usually not an easy task and this is for a variety of reasons.
ReplyDeleteYou can do a better job by not just listing the factors considered in the ranking but by also providing metrics that can be used to support the ranking, after all you cannot validate what you cannot measure.
Welldone on this ranking. you did a good job. I would love to see you rank schools by states. Ranking isnt so easy in a large country as Nigeria. However, this is the only site with a responsible ranking pattern. Welldone, you can do better though. Some schools in port-Harcourt should make the list.
ReplyDeleteAnon 4:56 pls name the schools in port harcourt. Thanks
ReplyDeletewhat of Louisville girls high school Ijebu Itele
ReplyDeleteDue to my research its also a good school but what do we do it didn't make top 25!!!
ReplyDeleteLagoon school is a good school were you are taught virtues and given sound education. I am a proud student of the school. People who don't have their school listed should not feel bad. All schools can not be on the list. By the way lagoon school came first in Lagos and tenth in Nigeria in the last WAEC result.
ReplyDeleteHow about Rainbow College? They always have excellent results year in year out. At least in the last couple of years I have seen their results published in the newspaper.
ReplyDeletenice post but i think vivian fowler should be 4th and day waterman is not there
ReplyDeleteGood work. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Appreciate the comment
Deletehow about living word academy
DeleteI know louiseville high school, Ijebu Itele, has a good academic record and conducive environment. Why was it not listed?
ReplyDeleteMy children all went to Whiteplains British Schools and to me, that is the best school in Nigeria, Africa even. My children were always happy there, they were never depressed and they actually enjoyed learning and this reflected on their results. They are all all-rounders and are doing exceptionally well in all their fields of study. They are flawless in ICT, the school even made each of them learn to play an instrument of their choice, do sport, tap into fine arts, learn foreign languages and lots more. (Don't even get me started on their many skills). I'm saying this with passion, honesty and much disappointment, this list is incomplete without Whiteplains British School as number 1.
ReplyDeleteNice one admin...School for the rich
