COMPARISM OF EUROPEAN AND NIGERIAN LEAGUE
European leagues are generally stable and well developed when compared to Nigerian league. Nigerian and European leagues are compared using the following criteria;
1. ORGANIZATION: It is very clear that the organization of European league is far more advanced than Nigerian league. The timing of events, the transfer of players, sales of tickets, amount of money paid among many others in Europe league is many steps that of Nigerian league.
2. SPONSHORSHIP: Many industries and organization tend to use leagues like European leagues to advertise their products unlike in Nigerian league. When a company even decides to advertise or sponsor Nigerian leagues, the amount of money used can not be compared to that of European league. Sponsorship in European league may range from TV right, jersey sponsorship, foot wear sponsorship, stadium sponsorship and so on while some teams in Nigerian leagues are still struggling in getting jersey sponsorship.
3. WORTH: European clubs are worth several million of dollars while Nigerian clubs aren’t even worth more than a million dollars. A football club like Arsenal F.c in England is worth about 200 million dollars while the whole of Nigerian premier league isn’t even worth half of that.
4. PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS: Professional players are numerous in European clubs because they are well paid but we don’t even have well developed professional players in Nigerian leagues and this has reduced the quality of play in Nigerian league because even out of the few professional players we have, they are still going for trials in Europe just to search for greener pasture.
5. FACILITIES: The facilities used in European leagues are world class facilities and they are very expensive. The cost of maintenance of these facilities is very high but in Nigerian league, the reverse is the case all just because of corruption.
6. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: Experts are usually used in European leagues but Nigerian leagues just use any body. For instance an engineer becoming the commissioner for sports. The coaches, officials, and managers of Nigerian leagues are not well trained when compared to European league.
7. TECHNOLOGY: The current and leading technology are used in European leagues but Nigerian league uses just any material in games. The stadiums, dressing rooms, transport system and so on are just too good to compare to Nigerian leagues.
